Learning Calligraphy
Fancy beautiful writing?
If you want to learn the art – or, as I think, rather the craft – of classic pointed pen calligraphy yourself, you need, in my view, three things: good instruction, suitable writing materials, and – in addition to a certain amount of perseverance – above all, a desire to learn!
For guidance, I would like to recommend my Book, in which I cover the topic in great breadth and depth on 240 pages with a bit of theoretical underpinning, but above all with many methodical and clear exercises, tips and tricks, and project suggestions. As of now, it is available in the original German version, in Japanese and in English.
I also offer (currently at rather irregular intervals) Workshops where you can get to know pointed pen calligraphy in a very practical way! More about this – also some explanations of different pointed pen styles – here.
On this page I’ve gathered lots of information on all sorts of Resources: You’ll find links to calligraphy associations, national and international, to interesting websites, as well as some specific advice on the appropriate materials mentioned (and where you can purchase them).
